After a long wait, fans of multiple award winning duo of Paul and Peter Okoye, famously known as P Square, will gather at Eko Hotel and Suites, on July 30, for their album concert. Already gathering momentum, it is an event that their fans from home and abroad can’t wait to witness.

The forthcoming concert, in the words of the super star musicians, will definitely change the face of shows from this part of the world, and they have promised to leave no stone unturned for the outing. In a bid to give their best at the album concert, P Square had recruited 12 dancers (six females and six males), during a keenly contested audition, and they have been rehearsing with the twin brothers’ six man band, for about three months now.

It was gathered that the concert will feature other side attractions, including a segment where fans will win juicy prizes. The first artiste to be officially signed to P Square’s , Squared Records, May D, will also be unveiled at the concert.

May D is also one of the very few artistes that featured in the yet-to-be-titled fifth album coming soon from the stable of P Square.

Since their music career began in 2001, Paul and Peter have released four successful albums; Last Night, Get Squared, Game Over and Danger, and according to the twin brothers, they are not ready to let their fans down with this new effort. The anticipated album is expected to have between 10 and 13 tracks, among which are Bunieya and Forever, two tracks that will first hit the airwaves in a couple of days.

At home and abroad, P Square is a hit. In 2010, the group won the Best African Act award at the KORA All African Music Awards held in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso. No doubt, P Square is one of the most successful African acts, and this is evident with the massive success of their numerous concerts on the continent. Over the years, the three times MTV award winning group has made an enviable impact in Africa, with sold out concerts.

Multi talented superstar, Innocent Ujar Idibia, a.k.a 2face Idibia is reportedly building a hotel in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Sources have it that it is one of the biggest projects he is working on at the moment.

According to a close associate of Idibia who does not want his name mentioned, the hotel in question is currently gulping millions of naira. He said further that the whole idea of owning a hotel started when 2face held his 10th anniversary celebration in Abuja. He got a land gift from one of his numerous admirers and after making consultations with close friends, he decided to erect a hotel on the parcel of land. Our source couldn’t reveal further the state of the hotel now because he has not been there in a while.

One may have no cause to doubt this privileged information because Idibia himself loves properties to a fault. Aside the properties he has invested in including one he is currently staying in Festac Town, Lagos, it was alleged at a point that he got a house gift in Abuja from former Presidential aspirant, Rochas Okorocha.

Rhythms & Sounds put a word to 2face’s managers but they denied knowledge of the hotel. 2Face himself is yet to return to the country after his performance with Mario in London on July 30, 2010.

Honeymoon in Scotland was a mistake - Okposo  E-mail

AMMIE'S wife, Ozioma Okposo, has opened up on their ordeal in the hands of owner and officials of a restaurant in Scotland, Aberdeen, describing it as a slap on the honeymooners and that she was very sad about the incidence.

"We could have gone anywhere for our honeymoon, but chose to visit Aberdeen because of the good things we heard about the country. We have been emotional, mentally, financially, and physically drained on this trip, which brings us to one conclusion, that going to Aberdeen was the biggest mistake we made", she expressed.

Contrary to Evening Express' story, a Scottish evening paper, on the arrest of Sammie Okposo during his honeymoon in Aberdeen, Okposo's PR company,MM&E, relying on eye witnesses accounts, claimed that Sammie and Ozioma, in the company of Mr and Mrs Efemua, had gone to Jimmy Chung restaurant on Beach Esplanade to eat, but were badly treated by the attendant. They arrived at the restaurant around 4.30pm in the evening, not aware that lunch time at the restaurant closes by 5pm.

A lady attendant later informed them that they had to eat in haste so they could leave the restaurant before 5, or  they would be charged for both the lunch and dinner. At this point, Sammie was already dishing the food, while the others were sorting out seats.

The statement resulted into a mild argument as they asked the attendant why she didn't inform them when they arrived. The argument attracted the manager's attention, while another lady held Sammie's shirt and ordered him to stop dishing the food, an act that many described as barbaric.

At this point, the manager  was already harassing Sammie's wife.

When Sammie turned back and saw the manager rasing his hands at his wife and the pregnant lady, he went after the manager and warned him to stop harassing his wife and Mrs Efemua. When the manager wouldn't stop, shocked Sammie told the manager that he shouldn't raise his fingers on his wife again, advising him to return to his country if he was tired of running a restaurant. Sammie's advice hit a wrong chord as the manager wrote down Sammie's friend car plate number and called the police to report a racial statement made against him.

Ozioma, however, said the incident would not stop her from visiting the city again as she has friends there. ''It was a painful thing to have happened, but life goes on."

Omowunmi Akinnifesi distances self from affair with Naeto C  E-mail

Adorable Lagos State Environmental Ambassador and erstwhile Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Omowunmi Akinnifesi, has condemned the rumour alleging an impending wedding between her and Kini Big Deal crooner, Naeto C.

In a recent encounter, the delectable and sexy ex-beauty queen maintained that nothing could be farther from the truth. Denying having anything intimate with Naeto C, who is the son of former Aviation Minister, Mrs. Kema Chikwe, Wunmi, like her friends call her, wondered why some funny characters now take delight in weaving unpleasant stories around her and her love life. She was first linked with one Dele Fasan, which later turned out to be a ruse. And now, this weird one with Naeto C.

On how the rumour came to her knowledge, the Geography and Regional Planning graduate of the University of Lagos said: “It came to my attention on Twitter, because I don’t read magazines that don’t have credibility and that can’t be sued. My friends and I laughed about it and my first reaction was to ignore it, but then other media houses, big and small, continued to carry the false rumour without confirming from me first”.

Admitting knowing the crooner like all those that listen to his music, she, however, insisted that she doesn’t have any relationship whatsoever with Mrs. Chikwe whom the mischief makers alleged is in the know of the non-existent affair, and as a matter of fact hasn’t even met her physically.

Visibly embittered Wunmi, urged the wicked tale bearers to get off her back as she’s busy working on some special projects and focusing on her newest academic endeavours and ambassadorial work for Lagos State. “As anxious as they are to see me walk down the aisle, let them wait until there is indeed a suitor and I make that person’s identity known to the public, not some jobless people imposing somebody on me.”

Africa Shrine: Photographer sues Fela! on Broadway  E-mail

A Brooklyn New York-based photographer, Marilyn Nance,  is suing "FELA! on Broadway" for allegedly ripping off a picture of the late musician’s Africa Shrine that features prominently in the Tony-award winning musical.

Nance said her shot of the late musician Fela Kuti's Nigerian nightclub is being used without permission as part of the production design for the critically acclaimed hit show, which is set inside the "Africa Shrine."

Nance's Manhattan federal court suit -- which seeks $150,000-plus in damages for copyright infringement -- alleges that her photo is projected "onto or above" the stage and "effectively serves as the backdrop for the FELA! set."

The cast of "Fela!" performs onstage during the 64th Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall.

A chart attached to the filing calculates that the image was displayed during 40 percent of the June 27 performance of FELA!, which is produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The photo also appears in the show's $10 souvenir program book with a bogus attribution to "Monique Carboni," as well as in the booklet for the $25 original cast recording CD and a promotional music video, the suit alleges.

Nance says she snapped the shot in 1977 while traveling on a bus through Lagos, Nigeria, before the club was destroyed in a fire "reportedly set by the government, amid violence, and the arrest of Fela Kuti and others in the Shrine."

It was first published in the 2003 book "Black President: The Art andLegacy of Fela Anikulapo Kuti," and has been shown in exhibitions at the downtown New Museum and elsewhere.

Representatives for FELA! claim that Nance's claim is unmerited and she waited too long to bring it to their attention.

"Last month the Broadway production of FELA! was notified of a claim based on the productions’ inclusion of a photograph of a public building in Lagos, Nigeria into the show’s video projection. We tried to resolve the claim, but could not, and are now in the process of replacing the image. Unfortunately this photographer waited two years to voice an objection to our use of this image. Had she notified us earlier, we would’ve replaced it then. We believe her claim is without merit," said FELA! publicist Richard Kornberg.
